Since many years, the Vianden nut market has been an integral part of the agenda of our town and the surrounding area. Every year, on the second Sunday in October, up to 20,000 people from near and far come to Vianden. Not only nut lovers meet here: regular customers, young people, tourists, and curious people from all over the world make the nut market an undisputed, well-known, and popular venue.

Vianden has always been considered the secret nut capital – ~20% of all nuts in Luxembourg came from Vianden in 1902. The first nut market in Vianden took place in 1935 and was initially intended only for the sale of extraordinary quantities of nuts. Over the years, the market has grown into a renowned and irreplaceable folk festival. Except for the Second World War and the period from 1952 to 1969, the nut market has been held every year since 1970, so that we can proudly look back on more than 50 years of tradition.

The Veiner Nëssmoort asbl, a partnership of local associations and businesses, with the kind support of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the local council of Vianden, is delighted to present every year a new edition of the popular nut market to its faithful public. In the medieval streets of our town, a wide variety of solid and liquid nut specialties will be offered: DJs, bands and orchestras will provide a good atmosphere in various places, and all this and much more makes the Veiner Nëssmoort so unique!
